Alternating group/Definition

For ${\displaystyle {}n\in \mathbb {N} }$, the subgroup

${\displaystyle {}A_{n}:={\left\{\sigma \in S_{n}\mid \operatorname {sgn} (\sigma )=1\right\}}\,}$

of all even permutations is called the alternating group.
